Grandma Otte's Yellow Bread
Items Needed:
2 cups milk
3 eggs, well beaten
1 cup sugar
2 packages dry yeast
2 tsp salt
5 to 6 cups sifted flour
1/2 cup melted butter
- Scald milk, sugar, salt and butter together in a saucepan. Pour into a large bowl.
- Stir in the yeast, then stir in the eggs.
- Stir in flour to make a sticky dough.
- Cover and set aside for minutes.
- Turn out on floured board and knead until it is not sticky.
- Divide dough in half and make into loaves or put into 9-inch pie pans.
- Brush melted butter over the tops.
- Let rise until doubled in bulk.
- Bake at 350º F for 45 minutes.
