Grandma Otte's Yellow Bread

Items Needed:

2 cups milk
3 eggs, well beaten
1 cup sugar

2 packages dry yeast

2 tsp salt

5 to 6 cups sifted flour

1/2 cup melted butter


  1. Scald milk, sugar, salt and butter together in a saucepan. Pour into a large bowl.
  2. Stir in the yeast, then stir in the eggs.
  3. Stir in flour to make a sticky dough.
  4. Cover and set aside for minutes.
  5. Turn out on floured board and knead until it is not sticky.
  6. Divide dough in half and make into loaves or put into 9-inch pie pans.
  7. Brush melted butter over the tops.
  8. Let rise until doubled in bulk.
  9. Bake at 350º F for 45 minutes.
